Branding is one of those things every business knows they need, but very few get right.
So for this edition of Local Spotlight by FL Digital Growth, we sat down with a brand designer who’s been helping small businesses build strong, lasting identities for over a decade.
Let’s get into it.
first: tell us what you do and who you help
I’m Mike, a brand designer focused on creating visual identities and assets for small and medium-sized businesses, as well as entrepreneurs. My goal is to help them present themselves professionally and stand out in their market through strong, clear branding.
How did you get started in this space?
It started about 15 years ago. I’ve always had a passion for graphic design, and over time I decided to turn that into a business. What began as an interest became a long-term commitment to helping businesses build their identity.
What would you say makes your work different from other designers?
For me, it comes down to three things: originality, creativity, and commitment. I don’t rely on templates or trends. Every project is approached with the goal of creating something unique that actually reflects the business and its long-term vision.
What’s a mistake you see people make when hiring a brand designer?
A big one is not understanding the process behind branding. That’s why I always walk my clients step by step through how everything works. When expectations are clear from the beginning, the final result is much stronger.
If someone is thinking about working with a designer, what would you tell them?
Be responsive and open to guidance. Branding works best when there’s good communication. If you’re willing to listen and collaborate, you’re going to get a much better result.
What’s happening in the design world right now? Any trends you’re noticing?
A lot of designers are focused on trends, but trends don’t always lead to long-term success. The work that actually lasts is built on solid design principles, clear communication, and originality. That’s what creates real impact over time.
You work remotely: how does the South Florida market play into that?
Even working remotely, being connected to the South Florida market is valuable. Markets like Miami are competitive, and having that local connection can add credibility and open up more opportunities.
What do you enjoy most about working with clients?
Definitely the collaboration. When there’s strong communication, commitment, and active feedback, the process becomes much more effective, and the results speak for themselves.
Thinking About Upgrading Your Brand?
If you’re building a business and want your brand to actually reflect your quality, working with the right designer makes a huge difference.
